Press secretary Sarah Sanders had the following message: "We are aware of the South Korean media report. The United States will look at what North Korea has said independently, and continue to coordinate closely with our allies."
State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert ads to this: "We have not heard anything from that government or the government of South Korea to indicate that we would not continue conducting these exercises or that we would not continue planning for our meeting between President Trump and Kim Jong Un next month."
But according to aides, the White house was caught of guard and was not expecting this behavior from North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un.
The tactic used by Kim Jong-Un is a famous North Korean tactic. First, create high expectations of a deal. After that suddenly cancel the deal or say at least that you are thinking of cancelling it. After that, ask for more concessions.
President Trump has been warned by this message and is currently working on an answer.
The Joint Military Drills are a set of exercises that happen each year between South Korea and the US but have always been a problem for North Korea.
